C4 Coffee Co's Kalita Recipe
We’ve been experimenting with our latest arrival of a brew gear - the well known Kalita Wave made by Kalita Co. in Japan. Unlike other classic cone shaped brewers such as V60, the Kalita Wave has got a flat bottom with just three holes in it. This design tends to result in a slower flow rate and more consistent results. We’ve looked into it for you and found the perfect easy-to-follow recipe.
What you need?
- Kalita Wave
- Kalita Wave paper filter
- Kitchen scale/timer
- Near boiling water
- 20g of freshly ground coffee (a bit coarser than you’d do your V60)
Instructions
- Put paper filter in your Kalita and rinse with some hot water.
- Put coffee in the Kalita and pour 40g of water onto the grounds to let it bloom for 30s.
- After 30s pour more water in to top up to 100g of water, then to 200g and finally to 300g. Your brew should finish around 3 minutes.
- Pulsing/splitting is less common with Kalita.
- Enjoy!
